INTERNSHIPS
Why intern at Bridge?
Training in the practice of acupuncture is firmly rooted in the ancient tradition of apprenticeship. These days, such opportunities are limited, for pragmatic reasons and perhaps because learning in the traditional manner is no longer valued as much as institutional learning. A hard-earned degree and board certification is certainly a lot to be proud of, and the bearer of such has their professional foundation solidly in place. There's a saying when a martial artist has finally earned their black belt: "Now the real training can start." The same goes for a newly certified acupuncturist. Here at Bridge, our practitioners have benefited a great deal from apprenticeship opportunities. Our clinical success and confidence in the treatment room would not have been possible without hours spent at our teachers' sides. We believe preserving this tradition is essential for maintaining the legacy of acupuncture. It's also a beautiful way to strengthen our "tribe," integrating the human need for social connection with our professional culture once more.
Much in the traditional style, interns will assist in basic but essential tasks throughout the clinic, during which time they will have the opportunity to observe the staff acupuncturists at work, ask questions and take notes. Through this process interns become familiar with the heart of a busy, successful acupuncture practice and earn the confidence to succeed on their own path. We ask for a formal commitment of weekly dedicated hours, anywhere from one to three days per week, and a minimum six month term. Subject to availability, paid rotations in our community acupuncture clinic, or paid front desk roles may be available to complement internship hours. Limited temporary internships may be available for qualified out-of-town visitors; please inquire. To apply
