Qi Gong is a Chinese practice related to traditional martial arts, involving gentle movements coordinated with the breath and focused intention. It’s a wonderful addition to your health maintenance, with benefits for your mind, body and spirit. Best of all, it’s inclusive to all ages and abilities!
Try Qi Gong to help with stress management and relaxation, increase energy levels, and improve mental clarity. It can also improve physical balance, range of motion and proprioception (awareness of your body in space). Join certified Qi Gong instructor Chris Spiro for this four-week introduction to Qi Gong located at Bridge. The program will focus on The Five Element Flow which is a set of movements designed to work with organs in your body and their corresponding meridians. It will also include breath work, and gentle warm-ups and stretches. The next 4-class program will take place Sundays from 9-10 am, on May 5, 19, 26 & June 2. Tuition for all four classes is $80.00. Participation in all classes is not mandatory, although there are no discounts for missed classes. There will be no make-up classes unless class is canceled due to weather. Zen Meditation (zazen) is a formal style where practitioners maintain silence and stillness during the sit, while focusing on posture and breathing form. Sits are led by Grace Rollins, MS, LAc who has nearly 20 years of experience and has trained in both monastic and martial arts communities. We can provide floor cushions (zafu), or a chair for those who cannot sit on the floor, or feel free to bring your own cushion. No experience is required-- basic instruction will be provided to those who are new to the practice, if you arrive a few minutes early. Free or by donation.
