Neuro-Acupuncture
Bridge founder and senior clinician Dr. Grace Rollins is a leading expert in acupuncture-supported rehabilitation of neurological conditions including post-stroke, Parkinson’s, MS, neuropathy, paralysis, neurogenic pain, post-concussion/TBI, cognitive decline, and more. She has trained under many leaders in the field of acupuncture neurology.
Korean Facial Rejuvenation
In what is sometimes called an "acupuncture face-lift," your body's natural restorative ability is harnessed through the use of very fine needles applied to the face, scalp and neck. Treatments can relax muscle tension, smooth lines, promote collagen production and stimulate healthy lymphatic flow. It may also benefit those who suffer muscle tics, tension headache, TMJ, dermatological conditions, and muscle weakness.
Pediatric Non-needle Acupuncture
Little ones can respond well to non-insertive acupuncture techniques designed especially for them! A few minutes of acu-point stimulation with practiced hands will help to harness the natural healing abilities of your child. The brief, comfortable sessions are especially suited for children under 10 and can potentially help with immunity, skin conditions, enuresis, and more. Also suitable for older children with anxiety, ADHD, autism or greater sensitivity.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Our certified practitioners have undergone intensive post-graduate training to master the ancient principles of the Chinese pharmacopeia— and to safely, effectively apply this medicine in a modern context. The Chinese herbal approach is signified by synergistic formulas that are tailored to the individual's current diagnosis. Herbs balance and enhance one another, target various body areas or organ systems, and serve a variety of energetic functions that can help take you to the next level in resolving imbalances.
Cupping
Cupping is an age-old therapy made famous in the West by the circular marks visible on athletes like Michael Phelps. It serves to de-constrain tissue and exchange blood and fluids, removing deep-level stagnation. It also greatly relieves tension in muscles and connective tissue, making it a great complement to orthopedic treatments. Cupping is often incorporated into acupuncture sessions and we also offer it as a stand-alone service.
Gua Sha
Closely related to cupping, Gua Sha refers to a form of cutaneous therapy common for centuries throughout the Far East and now adopted by mainstream physiotherapy. Involving manipulation of the surface tissues using a salve and blunt-edged tools, it feels akin to a deep-tissue massage but has a far-reaching clinical effect, clearing heat, removing toxins and improving circulation. May be incorporated in acupuncture sessions or as an effective stand-alone therapy.
Moxibustion (o-kyu)
Moxa is an ancient, integral part of Chinese medicine, predating even the use of acupuncture needles. In a process referred to as "moxibustion," the dried fibers of mugwort leaves ("moxa") are used to make a warm ember, which is safely deployed to heat acupoints through such methods as mounting on the needle handle (kyu-to-shin), or igniting rice-sized cones atop an ointment barrier (shiunko-kyu). Moxa smells great, feels great, and offers research-validated benefits for the immune system and circulation.
Qi Gong
Chinese for “breath energy work,” Qi Gong is a broad term for exercises that coordinate movement, intention and breathing. We often teach simple Qi Gong exercises appropriate to a patient’s condition, such as deep breathing exercises that benefit the nervous system, or gentle mobilizations. Sometimes we even offer workshops in our clinic. Qi Gong also refers to the "breath work" and intention your practitioner brings to your acupuncture session to increase its efficacy. You may notice your acupuncturist engaging in deep breathing and intently focusing on a point or pathway-- this is qi gong.
Photobiomodulation
Photobiomodulation, also called red light therapy, involves the use of specific light spectrums and protocols to modulate cellular metabolism and repair. Through use of a high-powered "cold" laser device we are able to painlessly, safely promote healing in a variety of conditions, from orthopedic pain to neuropathy, brain injury and skin conditions. Cold laser is often incorporated into acupuncture sessions or can be booked as a stand-alone service by contacting our office.
Nutrition
Nutrition is a major pillar of East Asian medicine, and it's impossible to ignore the modern food system's influence on the health of our patients. Fortunately, the simple approach of ancestral principles and East Asian nutrition has a lot to offer even in these challenging times. At Bridge you'll find practitioners who "walk the walk" and are happy to offer recommendations during acupuncture sessions, in relation to herbal consults, and in community workshops.
