Pediatric Non-Needle Acupuncture

Little ones can respond well to non-insertive acupuncture techniques designed especially for them! A few minutes of acu-point stimulation with practiced hands will help to harness the natural healing abilities of your child.

“Mommy, I liked it a lot. It tickled and I liked the pointy thing. I want more ac-puncture."

About our practitioner

Bridge staff acupuncturist Suzie Lee Tran, MS, LAC received acupuncture as a child for sprains and strains, colds, allergies and migraine headaches. Witnessing first hand how incredible this medicine was in her own life, Suzie knew she wanted to continue treating children in her career. She interned as a grad student at Boston Medical Center, performing pediatric detox treatment on infants born to drug-addicted mothers. Later she went on to study directly under leaders in pediatric East Asian medicine.

Who is eligible?

Children under 10 can schedule pediatric-style treatments with Suzie in our clinic. Their sessions are usually shorter in duration and insertive needles are rarely if ever utilized. However, time is always spent to get to know the child and their parent(s), building rapport and trust.

Children above the age of 10 will typically require more treatment time and need to schedule the same acupuncture appointment type as adults. Most of the time non-needle techniques will still be used until regular acupuncture is appropriate and well tolerated. They can schedule with any of our acupuncturists (though treatment by Suzie is encouraged).

Sessions are always customized. The practitioner has the ability to work safely with the child in any position (even as the child moves around). This makes our pediatric treatments appropriate for most children, including those with anxiety, sensory sensitivity, autism and ADHD.
